All applicants for a position within the North Smithfield School Department, who wish to have a background check (fingerprinting) completed through the North Smithfield Police Department, must first schedule an appointment via email to [email protected]. The Police Department will schedule your appointment accordingly.

North Smithfield School Department uses SchoolSpring to list all vacancies (with the exception of custodians, bus monitors, and luncheon/recess aides) within the district. Therefore, we will no longer accept paper applications for these positions. Please do not mail, email, or drop off application packages to the School Department for positions. Sorry, but there will be no exceptions to this rule.

Employment Opportunities for Current NSSD Employees
Only complete application packets will be considered. Applications will only be accepted for open positions. Applicants must be currently certified by the Rhode Island Department of Education for the position for which they are applying (if applicable). All positions will remain open until filled unless otherwise noted.

Vacancies for custodians, bus monitors, and luncheon/recess aides will be advertised. Applications for these positions may be obtained one (1) of two (2) ways:

The W4 and I9 forms (attached below), must only be completed when you have been offered employment with the district. They are not part of the original application packet. You will be notified when these forms are to be completed.
