Dear North Smithfield Parents,
We are pleased to announce that we will be issuing Chromebooks to all of our students from grades 3 and up. This is an important step for North Smithfield Schools to expand our resources for instruction and create an environment for an expanded curriculum supporting learning anytime and anywhere.
Students will be able to take the Chromebook between home and school. We will provide a sleeve as an additional protective measure carrying the Chromebook or storing in a backpack along with an AC adapter to charge the Chromebook overnight. We are arranging for very low-cost insurance families can purchase to protect against device loss, theft, damage, and repair. We will also extend Internet filtering from school to the home on all district-managed Chromebooks.
Again we are excited by the additional resources and instructional possibilities of this program. We will be posting additional information and if you have any concerns, questions, or suggestions please contact our Technology Director, Adam Stanley.
